Sharing metric views

Put a metric view inside a share, so a recipient gets the governed measures and dimensions rather than the tables under them.

Why it is worth watching

Shares the definition of a number, not just the data behind it. A workspace admin turns it on from the Previews page.

What Beta promises

Open to most customers but not for production: support runs through engineering, and the shape of it can still move. On by default on Premium, off on Enterprise.

The definitions are Databricks' own, on its release types page. The label on this page is the one the feature's documentation states, last checked on 14 Sept 2026.

Where to read more

It is part of something we wrote up: Sharing data with OpenSharing — How a share, a provider and a recipient actually work: the two sharing protocols, bearer tokens against OIDC federation, sharing with history, and what cannot be shared.

We re-read the documentation behind every preview and tell you when a label moves, or when a feature quietly disappears.
