AI Functions in SQL need Databricks Runtime 17.3 LTS or above from January 2027
From Databricks release notes (AWS)
From January 2027, SQL queries that call AI Functions will no longer be supported on Databricks Runtime versions below 17.3 LTS. ai_similarity and the AI Functions REST API are not affected. Compute that runs these queries has to be upgraded to 17.3 LTS or later.
