LTAP Direct Writes
A faster path for the initial load and the snapshot refreshes of a synced table, for new synced tables on Postgres 17.
Why it is worth watching
It changes how long a first sync of a large table takes, and an admin has to opt the workspace in.
What Beta promises
Open to most customers but not for production: support runs through engineering, and the shape of it can still move. On by default on Premium, off on Enterprise.
| Who can use it | Most customers |
|---|---|
| Production use | No |
| Support | Engineering only |
| On by default | Premium yes, Enterprise no |
The definitions are Databricks' own, on its release types page. The label on this page is the one the feature's documentation states, last checked on 15 Sept 2026.
Where to read more
It is part of something we wrote up: Synced tables, from Unity Catalog into Postgres — A managed, read-only copy of a Unity Catalog table in Lakebase, kept current in snapshot, triggered or continuous mode, so applications read lakehouse data with Postgres latency.
